When a Certain User is created by an Administrator in Account Settings > Administration > Users, the user must be assigned a user type.
Note: "Certain Users" are event planners, managers, support personnel, etc.—not the attendees who register for an event.
The user type determines which program features a user can access.
For example, some users may only have permission to view reports, whereas others may be able to view, create, and edit reports.
To assign a user type, the administrator must select a value in the User Type drop-down list.
User Types Overview and Permissions
System Master
System Master provides access to all areas. (For Certain, Inc. employees only.)
Sales Demo
Sales Demo provides read-only functionality to allow potential customers to evaluate the Certain platform. (For Certain, Inc. employees only.)
Administrator
Administrator provides access to all events and to Setup > Administration areas. Administrator is able to add/edit/delete users, e-commerce accounts for credit card processing, custom event questions, custom profile questions, user roles, etc.
Event Builder
Event Builder provides access to all events, including creating events (from scratch or from templates), copying events, full add/edit/delete permission for events, and access to all registrations and reports.
Event Builder does not have access to the Account Settings area, in which Administrators administer sub-accounts, users, etc.
Event Builder may mark events as templates, or edit template events, if the Allow event template access option under User Access on the Event Builder user record is selected.
Event Builder may copy any events if the Copy all events option under User Access on the Event Builder user record is selected.
If the Copy all events option is cleared, the Event Builder may only copy template events.
Registration Support
Registration Support provides access to registration details and reports. Registration Support is able to add/edit/delete registrations. (Registration Support does not have access to add/edit/delete event-setup information.) Registration Support may also import registration data if the Import registration data option under User Access on the Registration Support user record is selected.
Reports and Approval
Reports and Approval provides access to run all reports, view registration details (but not edit them), send email, and make changes to standard registration statuses or properties via “Mass Actions” from the Report Results window. This user type does not have access to add/edit/delete registration information. Note: The "Approval" in this User Type's name is unrelated to the Qualification and Approval module, which it predates. This user type could be described as a "Reports Plus" user type.
Reports Only
Reports Only provides access to run reports and export data to standard formats. Reports Only can click through to view (but not edit) the details of a registration in a report that is in a Report Results window.
Caution
A Reports Only user type should be used only in one of the following two situations:
1. When user information is appended to a report URL.
2. When user roles are set up, and Reports Only access is granted to a role-based user.
