Build and Manage an Event - Step 5
Step 5: Customize Look and Feel
Look-and-feel refers to the interface appearance and layout of your event pages.
Template is a built-in, pre-made structure used to create your event.
Three options exist in Certain to configure the look-and-feel of your event:
- Use a Certain built-in event template to create your event.
- Use basic-level settings in Settings > Display tab.
- Use advanced-level settings in Settings > Display. This option requires knowledge of HTML, creating graphics for the Web, and Cascading Style Sheets.
The following table summarizes the advantages and disadvantages of each approach:
| Display Strategy | Advantages | Disadvantages | | Template | One click gets you started. <br> No additional configuration needed to have a professional-looking online form. | Generic look-and-feel, not branded for your specific organization. <br> Without knowledge of HTML, difficult to make any changes. | | Basic Display | Brand your event without needing to know complicated programming techniques. <br> Fast and easy. | Impossible to make complex changes. <br> Layout is inflexible. Banner image displays at the top of every page. | | Advanced Display | Match your company or organization's existing branding. <br> Create top-quality, professional layouts. <br> Wrap graphics around form. <br> Use Cascading Style Sheets to optimize text formatting and form field appearance. | Requires knowledge of Web programming in HTML, creating and optimizing graphics for the Web, and Cascading Style Sheets (optional). <br> Customization can be time-consuming. <br> Can be difficult to troubleshoot HTML problems. <br> Although can be done with simple text-editor, most people use additional software which can be time-consuming to learn and expensive to buy. |
After you are satisfied with the event look and feel, create marketing elements to communicate with your potential attendees.
