Overview
Bulk uploading content loads resources into Touchpoint from an Excel workbook. The article includes an Excel workbook example that contains all formats and is downloadable at the bottom of the article.
Separate spreadsheets
- Save resources as separate spreadsheets.
- The example workbook includes multiple resources for simplicity.
- When spreadsheets are uploaded, Touchpoint processes one resource at a time.
Spreadsheet data and headings
- Spreadsheet data must begin in the first column and the first row.
- There should be no cells above or to the left of the data.
- Use Touchpoint terminology for all spreadsheet uploads.
- Refer to the example spreadsheet attached at the bottom of this article.
- Copy and paste headings to ensure exact matches.
- For example, use the heading "Name" for the column containing session titles and not "Session Name."
Delete not hide
- Delete unused columns.
- Do not hide unused columns.
- Hidden columns can cause import errors.
- Pare the spreadsheet down to include only information you need.
Remove any extra cells
- After you have entered all data, perform a final review.
- Scroll to the right to verify there is no data past the last column.
- Scroll to the bottom to verify there is no data past the last row.
Importing Content
There are two places to start an import on the Event Dashboard:
- Start from the Feature where you would like to bulk upload content, then click Import > Excel in the upper right corner.
- Start from the Import Content button under Related Resources on the left side menu.
From the Import Content option, select the content type to import from the Resource type dropdown menu.
Resource types and uses: | Resource type | Use | |---|---| | Attendee | Bulk uploading Attendees / Attendee profile information. | | Event | Bulk uploading Agenda Sessions / Session information. | | Exhibitor | Bulk uploading Exhibitors / Showcase details. | | Info | Bulk uploading Info Items to be listed under the Info feature. | | Link | Bulk uploading Links to be listed under the Links feature. | | Meeting | Bulk uploading 1x1 Meeting details. | | Message | Bulk uploading broadcast and/or individual messages. | | Announcements (NewsStory) | Bulk uploading announcements to be listed under the Announcements feature. | | Post | Bulk uploading posts to be posted on the Discussion Board feature. | | ScheduledEvent | Bulk uploading actions related to scheduling and itineraries. | | Speaker | Bulk uploading Speakers / Speaker profile information. | | Survey | Bulk uploading Surveys / Survey questions. | | Task | Bulk uploading tasks to be listed under the To-Do List feature. | | Video | Bulk uploading videos to be listed under the Videos feature. |
If necessary, confirm the destination for the imported content selected on the Feature dropdown menu. For example, if you have multiple Showcase buttons and you are using the Exhibitor bulk upload, indicate which Showcase button your content should go to.
After initiating the import:
- Click Choose File, select the Excel file from your computer, then click Save.
- Verify your field mappings, then click Confirm.
- On the next screen, double-check your field mappings one more time, then click Import.
- This will start the import process.
- If there are any errors found while uploading the spreadsheet, you will see the errors on the screen.
- Once the import is complete, you will see a message that says "# records have been successfully imported."
