The Check-In: Session Configuration page is part of the app experience for Certain Check-In. The page is used to enable session check-ins. The page also allows selecting which sessions may have walk-ins. For background information, see the Check-In > Basic topic. See also the related topics listed below.
On this page you can enable session check-ins, and then choose which sessions (if any) are allowed to have walk-ins.

Enable Session Check-In
Check-In Enabled for Sessions is On to enable session check-in. This makes a Sessions tab available in the app. A user will be able to scan attendees into sessions for which they have registered. If a session is set here to allow attendance without pre-registration (see below), then the user can register them. Note: Setting this to On will require Attendees to check in at Sessions created using Speaker and Session Management.
May attendees come to sessions without pre-registering for them?
This panel is shown if session check-in is On. There are three options to determine whether event attendees are allowed to arrive at a session without having pre-registered for it. If allowed, attendees can be registered at the door using the Check-In app.
- No – All attendees at every session must be pre-registered for that session.
- Only to THESE sessions – Select the sessions to which attendees may come even if not pre-registered for them.
- Click Select Sessions to Add or Remove.
- Note: Only published, scheduled session instances without fees are listed for selection.
- Sessions with fees require pre-registration.
- A "scheduled session instance" is an edition of a session assigned to a location and a date/time.
- So you might, for example, allow the Monday 10:30 occurrence of a particular session to have walk-ins, but not the Tuesday 9:30 occurrence of the same session.
- A session is "published" for selected (or all) attendee types on the Sessions page.
- Select the check boxes for the sessions you want to add to the list.
- Click Save Selections
- The numbers of attendees at the selected sessions will be limited only by session capacity, as defined on the Sessions page.
- All other sessions will be limited to those who have pre-registered for them.
- To remove a selected session from the list, click the X at the end of the row, or click Select Sessions to Add or Remove and clear that session's check box.
- Yes, to ALL non-fee sessions – Attendees may come to any session (provided it has no fee), even if not pre-registered for it.
If Check-In is enabled for Sessions, then the following option is available if you select Either "Only to THESE sessions" or "Yes, to ALL non-fee sessions" above:
- Allow walk-ins to override session capacity – If selected, then walk-in session registrations will be allowed, even when that would mean exceeding the Session's capacity.
