Primary Display

This article describes how to configure the Primary Display for event forms, websites, and emails in the Certain platform. The audience for this content is users who manage the appearance of online registration forms and event websites.

Introduction

Display refers to the look and feel of your event forms, websites, and emails. The forms and websites use the same custom display shell. This ensures a consistent look-and-feel for the attendee’s view of the event. Any HTML-formatted emails sent to attendees can also be set to use the custom display shell. The Primary Display page offers simple configuration options such as colors and fonts for non-technical users. Here you can modify about 80% of the look and feel of the pages. Define either a single header image or a header and footer for each page, which may include images, text and dynamic data fields. Note: If you are well versed in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, you can use Extended Display for more complex additional configuration options, giving you greater flexibility in determining page appearance.

Display Setup

Display Setup determines basic display behavior in the registration forms that attendees see online. For most users, this section is where you configure aspects of page design such as the background color, default font, and page width. Some basic settings configured here will override advanced display settings made on Extended Display, so you must choose one of these two options:

The background color, page width, and page alignment basic settings will overwrite the body, form, and table settings. The font face, size, and colors will overwrite the font attributes. Modify page appearance as follows.

Color selection methods

Background Color

Background Color is the background color of the page. Default = White. Caution: Must contrast well with the Normal Color and Error Color in which text will be displayed on it.

Page Alignment

Page Alignment determines the alignment of the Web page within the browser window. Default = Center.

Font Face

Font Face is used for all text. Default = Verdana.

Normal Color

Normal Color is the standard text color. Default = black.

Error Color

Error Color is the text color used for errors and required fields. Default = red.

Page Width

Page Width is in pixels: the width of the form plus the display shell. Default = 800. Caution: Graphics may force a larger width that may override this setting.

Image/Header Align

Image/Header Align determines the relative positioning of the event's image and header text. Applies only if the image and header both exist. Default = Left/right.

Font Size

Font Size is the base value for normal text. Other text classes have different sizes. Default = 2 (12 pt.)

Highlight Color

Highlight Color is the color of contrasting headers, titles, and special text. Default = #003385.

Contrast Color

Contrast Color is the color of text printed on contrasting headers (of Highlight color). Default = white. Caution: Must differ from Highlight Color enough to make text clearly visible.

Custom Header and Footer Data Fields

Data Fields is a feature you may insert dynamic data fields (DDFs) into the page title, header, or footer. Place your cursor at the relevant position in the Title, Header, or Footer. Select a field in the drop-down list. Click the relevant button (Add to Title, Add to Header, or Add to Footer) to include that field.

Page Title

Page Title is the text displayed in the title bar or tab of the viewer's browser.

Header and Footer

Header and Footer is custom text (or HTML) to appear at the top and bottom, respectively, of every page of online registration forms and event websites. You may enter plain text, with or without HTML tags. To use the HTML editor, click <> in the lower right corner of each field.

Page Details

Page Details defines basic display behavior for the online registration forms. This section explains how to configure page design aspects such as background color, default font, and page width. It notes that some basic settings can override advanced display settings made on Extended Display, so you must select one of the two options described in the Display Setup section.

Custom Header and Footer

Custom Header and Footer covers the data fields, page title, and header/footer content that appear across pages. You can insert data fields into the title, header, or footer. You may enter plain text or HTML in header and footer fields. You may also use the HTML editor for advanced formatting.

Engines

By default, all Certain forms and websites are private (invisible to engines). For information about changing this for all or some events, see the pdf guide Web Crawlability in Certain Events.
