The Consequences of Changing Your Event Code

The Event Code is entered at Plan > Event Setup > Details > Event Details. The Event Code is essential for internal tracking for most clients. The Event Code can be changed after the Event is live, but the recommended action is not to change it.

Changing The Event Code

The Event Code creates a file path where files uploaded to the event are stored.

This file path includes files uploaded for the Event setup, such as banner images used in Forms.

The file path also includes files uploaded by registrants to Event level Reg questions.

Changing the Event Code changes the file path that the system uses to locate these uploaded files.

Accessing those files may produce an error.

This change can cause broken images to display on your Forms.

This change also removes the ability for users to download or view files from the event that registrants uploaded.

The Event Code is used in setting up the integration between Certain Platform and Touchpoint. Changing the Event Code will break the integration between Certain Platform and Touchpoint, causing your data to stop syncing.

If the Event Code is changed accidentally, you can remedy the situation by changing the Event Code back to its original value. If the new Event Code must be used, you can re-upload your files in Plan > Configure > Display > Assets, then edit any Custom HTML, so it uses the new Relative Path from that same page.

Note: If your Event is integrated with Touchpoint, you must submit a Support ticket to have the Touchpoint integration set up again from scratch using your new Event Code. Best practice recommendation is to avoid changing the Event Code in Certain Platform after a Touchpoint integration has been set up.
