What user roles and permissions are available?

Certain lets administrators define custom, job-based roles that control which parts of the platform users can see and act on. Roles inherit permissions from a User Type by default or can override to one of six permission levels: Administrator, Event Builder, Registration Support, Reports and Approval, Reports Only, and Reviewer.

Details:

  • Role attributes you can set: Name (unique), Sort Order, Allow more than one user to fill this role for each event, and Required (must be assigned to an event). Role Details
  • Permissions Level: choose “Determined by User’s Type” (default) or “Override User Type” to assign one of the six User Types as the role’s permission level. Role Details
  • User Types hierarchy (most to least access): Administrator → Event Builder → Registration Support → Reports and Approval → Reports Only → Reviewer. A user’s User Type limits which role permission levels they may assume. Role Details
  • Rules: a user must be assigned a role with permissions equal to or more restrictive than their User Type; if assigned multiple roles, the highest permission level applies; top-level navigation outside events is determined by User Type, while access inside an event is controlled by the assigned role. • Manage which users can fill each role and which reports are available to that role from the Roles editor; when you add roles to an event you assign users to those roles via Event Setup > Details or the Event Dashboard. Role Details Assign Roles
  • User-level settings (examples) such as role availability for a user, event-template access, copy-event permissions, import registration data, and drill-down restrictions live on the User Information page. User Information
