API Fetch walkthrough

API Fetch is a data synchronization feature. API Fetch aggregates event data from external sources into the Certain Platform. External sources include social media, registration systems, attendee tracking tools, CRMs, and marketing automation tools. Automated Data Synchronization is achieved by syncing data on a schedule. Comprehensive Centralized Data is data from various sources in one platform. Accurate & Available Data is data that can be acted on when needed. All of these benefits are delivered by a scheduled workflow.

Below is a step-by-step walkthrough to get you started with API Fetch.

Step 1: Add a Data Source

As an example, pull data from the Eloqua Marketing Automation system. Name the data source Eloqua Data Source. Add description information. Select API Polling from the drop-down menu. Press the SAVE button. The selection enables a recurring data pull by connecting the Eloqua data source to the Certain Platform.

Step 2: Set the Response Schema Setup

This step creates dynamic data fields in Signal. Whenever data is pulled from the Eloqua data source, the data is placed into corresponding fields in the Certain Platform. To do this, copy the JSON response from the Eloqua API and paste it into the field in Certain. Select from the dropdown menu either "event" or "attendee data" depending on what you are importing. Then click SAVE.

Step 3: Assign the Data Source

Schedule a new API Fetch. Give a name to the schedule. Select the data source from the drop-down menu. Click the SAVE button.

Step 4: Assign the Inbound Flow

Select the data source "Ingest Eloqua." Click the SAVE button.

Step 5: Schedule when to automatically pull in the data

Make selections such as daily or hourly, a specific time and time zone. And save the schedule. The example schedules it to fetch the data daily, starting today, 7am Alaska time. The data will be pulled into the Certain Platform on the schedule that you determine. You perform this setup once, and the schedule runs automatically thereafter.
