Bulk Uploading Translated Content

If your event has multiple languages enabled on it, you can bulk upload your translated content once you have the content entered into Touchpoint in the event's primary language. This process exports the existing content in the primary language, enters translated content on the exported spreadsheet, and then imports the content back into Touchpoint.

Steps for bulk uploading translated content

1. Export the existing content from the Touchpoint CMS. For example, if you want to upload translated session names and descriptions for your agenda sessions, start by exporting the existing agenda.

2. The export will be an Excel workbook. The first tab is titled (for example) "Agenda Sessions". The other tabs are labeled with the supplemental languages selected for the Touchpoint event.

NOTE: DO NOT remove or reorder the rows on any spreadsheet in this workbook. The import process matches content by row.

On each supplemental language spreadsheet, you will see a "Hint" column. You will also see a column for each of the translatable fields on that feature. The Hint column is included for your reference when entering the translated content in the spreadsheet. The Hint column contains the primary language name of each row. The translatable field columns will be blank on the export.

Enter the translated content in each row. Save the workbook to your computer.

3. Import the saved workbook into Touchpoint. Go to the feature you wish to import. Click the Import button in the upper right. Select Excel.

4. Click Choose File. Select the Excel file from your computer. Click Save.

5. Select Sheet from the Excel workbook. Select the first sheet with the feature name (for example, "Agenda Sessions"). Do not select any sheets labeled as the supplemental languages.

6. On the field mappings page, map the ID field to ID. Map the translatable fields to their corresponding fields (for example, Name is mapped to Name and Description is mapped to Description). Ignore all other fields. Click Confirm.

7. On the next screen, double-check the field mappings one more time. Click Import. This starts the import process. If errors are found while uploading the spreadsheet, the errors appear on the screen. After the import is complete, a message appears that says "# records have been successfully imported."

8. Check that the translations uploaded correctly. Click Edit next to a translated item in the Touchpoint CMS. Translated content appears below each translatable field on the edit screen.
