Form Password Options
This article is intended for administrators and form creators using the Certain platform.
Overview
- Certain implemented security measures to protect Forms by masking passwords in email and reports.
- Passwords are accessible only to the Registrant.
- Two options exist to help Registrants access password protected Forms.
Option 1: Use Forgotten Password Feature
Forgot Password is a feature.
Forgot Password enables Registrants to set their password via an emailed link.
Create and designate a Forgot Password Email Template.
Navigate to Promote > Email Templates > Registration > Add New.
Enter Email Template Details.
Check the box for Use as the template for Forgot Password.
Edit the Form Entry area.
Enable Forgot Password.
Save.
A Forgot Password link is added to the Form's page.
You may edit the text of this link.
When the link is clicked, the Registrant is asked for their email address.
The Forgot Password Email Template will be sent with a link to the Form.
The Registrant can set their password by following the link.
The Registrant can log into the Form after setting the password.
With this method, Include a normal link to the Form.
Direct the Registrant to click the Forgot Password link to set up their password.
Option 2: Append "Reg ID for URL" to the Form Link
Using this method, registrants will be automatically logged into the Form.
The automatic login happens because the URL contains the Reg ID.
Under Promote > Email Templates, create the Event link.
Create the Event link in one of two ways.
Append "&PkRegID=<{Reg ID For Url}>" to the end of the Form link URL.
Example: https://app.certain.com/profile/form/index.cfm?PKformID=0x2603286abcd&PkRegID=<{Reg ID For Url}>
Append Both the Form ID and Reg ID to the URL.
Example: https://app.certain.com/profile/form/index.cfm?PKformID=<{Form Id For Url: Buyer Phase 1}>&PkRegID=<{Reg ID For Url}>
With this option, the link will log the Registrant directly into the Form.
You may then include "Password" and "Confirm Password" on the Form under Registrant Details, allowing Registrants to set their password for future access.
