Managing Internet Connection Speeds
In the course of managing an on-site event, Certain users may be required to connect to the Certain application from locations with a variety of internet bandwidths. Certain is a SaaS (Software as a Service) application. Certain is optimized to provide the best performance on computers connected to the Internet at speeds exceeding 128 kbps. To minimize internet connection-related problems, a high-speed connection should be in place and it should provide enough bandwidth for all concurrent users. If the connection is critical to the business, a dedicated network connection should be seriously considered.
How fast is my connection? How can I check this?
Conduct a speed test online. The speed test should yield results indicative of the Internet connection that is being used. The result will vary over time, especially if the connection is shared with a variable number of users.

Close unneeded programs
Many applications can use the Internet connection and CPU resources. Peer-to-peer applications such as Skype are likely to use the Internet connection even when idle. In doubt, the user should shut down all programs that are not needed.
Close unneeded browser windows and tabs that you do not need
With Web 2.0, pages can keep requesting data. A page that is loaded and still open in a browser window or tab may continue to use bandwidth to update its contents.
Consider using a different browser specifically for low bandwidth connections
Outside of browser speed considerations, browser settings and browser security settings affect perceived connection speed. Using a different browser exclusively for limited bandwidth occasions allows setting less demanding options (pop-up blocker, longer history, less demanding security settings). Please note that lowering security settings is not recommended as a full-time workaround.
Conduct regular virus and spyware scans
Viruses and spyware use memory and can contribute to a connection appearing slow. The primary reason for running antivirus software is to protect the computer and data integrity. Antivirus software may also yield a speed increase.
