Overview
Printer Settings allow administrators to add and manage badge and label printers used for attendee check-in and badge printing.
Printers configured in Printer Settings are added at the account level. Account-level printers are available to select on any check-in device across events. Check-in devices can include staffed check-in stations and self-service kiosks.
Access Printer Settings
1. Sign in to Greet and confirm that Admin Mode is enabled.
2. In the left navigation menu, select Printer Settings under the Administration section.
Choosing a Connection Method
Greet supports multiple ways to get a print job from the app to a physical printer.
The connection method depends on hardware. The connection method also depends on how check-in devices are set up on site.

> Note: A device prompts you with the standard print dialog only when printing over USB. PrintNode and the OS-level methods print silently in the background.
Add a Printer
1. Select + Add Printer.
2. Enter a descriptive printer name.
3. Optionally, assign the printer to a configured location.
4. Select the appropriate printer type.
5. Choose the connection method.
6. Configure the printer dimensions and settings required for the printer model.
7. Save the printer configuration.
> Note: A clear printer name can help distinguish between multiple printers used across locations or events. > For example, "Registration Desk 1 - Zebra ZD621."
> Note: Max Width and Max Height aren't the size of the badge you're designing. > They are a ceiling on what the physical printer can produce. > Greet can flag a mismatch. > For example, a 4" x 12" badge template sent to a printer that maxes out at 4" x 6".
Location doubles as a way to track check-in volume by individual print station.
Each physical printer has its own location value. For example, use "Printer 1" and "Printer 2" instead of grouping by venue. The approach can compare volume across stations.
Greet does not currently report which specific printer a badge printed from outside of this approach.
PrintNode Printers
Printers connected through PrintNode Cloud Printing are listed separately within Printer Settings.
These managed printers do not require manual creation through the + Add Printer form.
PrintNode is a subscription print-server service. Certain provisions the account for you.
To set up PrintNode: 1. Go to Printer Settings and select Show Credentials. 2. Greet creates a PrintNode account automatically. 3. Download the PrintNode client onto whichever laptop or PC will sit next to the printer. 4. Log in to the PrintNode client with the credentials Greet generated. 5. Add your printer in the PrintNode client the same way you'd add any other network printer. 6. Select the printer from Greet's Printer Settings under connected PrintNode printers from any check-in device.

Double-Sided and Fan-Fold Badges
Greet supports two double-sided approaches.
Both approaches are set from the Layout tab in the badge designer.
ID Card:for a dual-sided card printer that prints one side.
The card flips.
The second side prints automatically.
Fanfold:for a single continuous label that folds in half.
This approach is common with Zebra-style badge printers.
The back panel is automatically rotated 180 degrees. After folding, both sides read right-side up. No manual rotation is needed in the design.
Adding a custom back through Custom Design applies the same automatic rotation based on the badge type selected.
A separate Duplicate and Rotate option is also available in the badge designer's left-side menu. This option mirrors an individual element quickly.
> Note: Double-sided printing requires Greet Premium. > On the standard tier, double-sided badges aren't available.
> Note: Non-folded badge layouts currently support lengths up to roughly 11 inches. > Longer folded formats and metric (millimeter) sizing are expected in an upcoming release.
Offline Check-In and Printing
Greet caches attendee data in the browser.
If the venue network drops, check-in keeps working. Attendees can still be checked in.
Everything syncs back to Certain automatically once connectivity returns.
Printing is a separate dependency.
PrintNode needs an active internet connection to relay jobs. If the network goes down, PrintNode printing pauses along with it.
A USB-connected printer keeps working because the printer does not depend on the network.
If uninterrupted printing matters for the event, keep at least one USB-connected backup printer on site.
Preventing Duplicate Badge Prints
Every printed badge is marked as printed on the attendee record.
Badge printing can happen in these ways:
- printed individually
- printed in bulk ahead of time
- printed during check-in
The attendee list shows an icon next to any badge that's already been printed.
If someone tries to print the same badge again, Greet shows a warning. The warning states the badge has already been printed. The warning asks for confirmation before reprinting.
This process protects against kiosk users printing a second badge accidentally. This process also protects against kiosk users printing a second badge intentionally for someone else to use.
> Note: More granular reprint controls, including restricting reprint overrides to admin users only, are planned for an upcoming release.
Troubleshooting
