Printing Differences
Printed badge quality will differ on Windows devices vs iOS or Android because these other devices convert badges to PDF format when printing. The badge-to-PDF format has crisper lines and lettering. Conversely, Windows does not support printing PDF files from Apps. The app must print an image version of the Badge. Printing an image version of the Badge can cause the printed badge to be of lower quality than when printing from iOS or Android.
Positioning
In some cases when printing from Windows devices, the printed badge may not appear properly centered, get cut off, and/or display differently between devices:
- Check Windows Display Settings > Scale and Layout > "Change the size of text, apps, and other items" (Right click on Desktop > Display Settings).
- Make sure the setting is 100%. If the setting is not 100%, the generated badge will be off by that amount. For example, setting the display to 125% will cause the badge to be 125% in size and potentially cut-off, off-center, or even blank depending on the badge size you are using.
- Go to Printers & Scanners > Select printer > Manage > Printing Preferences > Check the paper size and print quality settings.
- This setting can be different depending on your Printer. Example: On Brother QL-1110NWB printers, the paper size for a 4-inch by 3-inch badge should NOT be 4x3. This will print 3, 4-inch badges. The paper size should be set to 4 inches for 4-inch continuous paper. You can then set the length to the other dimension (3.00" for 4" x 3" badges).
- Sometimes setting for Higher quality will cause small lines to appear faded or splotchy. Setting for print speed priority may make the badge easier to read.
